Signals and Noises, a new album by Standard Errors

General Announcements

Standard Errors - Signals and Noises album cover art featuring cold war themes.

Signs and Noises, by Standard Errors will have an expected release date of May, 25th, 2026. It will be available on all major streaming apps and Bandcamp.

Signals and Noises is a nervous system set to tape, a collage of clipped transmissions, blown circuits, and restless energy. Pulling from egg punk’s wiry minimalism, post punk tension, and the abrasion of noise, the album feels like scanning shortwave radio frequencies at 3AM and catching fragments of something unsettling beneath the static.

Lyrically, it circles the long shadow of the Cold War. There is the quiet dread of mutually assured destruction, the absurd machinery of conflict, and the way fear seeps into everyday life. It fixates on miscommunication, distorted signals, warnings being ignored, meaning being lost in the noise, and amplifying the broader folly of war and the systems that sustain it.

Across its runtime, the record shifts between frantic bursts and uneasy rhythms, reflecting cycles of anxiety and burnout. The focus was to have something short and impactful.

At its core, Signals and Noises is about erosion, uncertainty, lack of safety, sense of hope, and what remains when everything is reduced to interference.
